I'm not sure where to post this so will a mod please move it if it's in the wrong place.
Shades of Betamax/VHS debacle?
Is anyone affected by this decision?

Looks goof here, Simon.

The last line in the article says it all! I was one who opted for Beta as it was the "better" format, VHS, won. DL DVD's have yet to become economical, so I stayed with standard DVD's. HD/Blu-Ray, I'll wait another wear or so until the dust settles before I jump ship.

It's terrible SRD :(

They bring out DVD, which destroys the hopes and dreams of everyone who loves VHS video cassettes and is forced into DVD. Then they bring out these two 'High Definition' DVD types..(HD DVD & BLUE-RAY) and all those yuppies with money and the craving for the next-best-thing spend all their money on a new format - only to find that they may have backed the wrong horse.

Those who opted for 'HD DVD' are going to end up with plenty of egg on their face and a hole in their pocket.

We all have to realise that eventually there will be no need to for any type of (Film or Music) format on disc/vinyl or tape.

Everything will be on (pay-per-view) on your TV or computer or both.

There will be a price for everything and you will get anything you want with a touch of a button from your computer or sky tv remote control.

Just type in the title of the film you want. Then there will be a price attached to it. Something like (20p) for the film, 'The Quiet Man' by John Wayne...(for those who don't know:P) and suddenly the film will be right there for you to watch.

Technology eh'?? What next........
