Shooting at Northern Illinois University

This is the university site; the content may change ater some days pass.

Here is wiki.

Five students were shot to death, and 18 were wounded, before the gunman shot himself.

A whole classroom of people were present. But, in Illinois, none were able to legally carry gun protection.

The police got there within minutes, but it was too late. To stop the person, someone already in the classroom would have had to shoot him. (Since he killed himself at the end, anyway, a defending shooter need only have shot a man who was about to die anyway. In fact, a wounding shot might have saved his life.)

I heard a doctor commenting on a discussion show, that abruptly discontinuing some kinds of antidepressants, as this man did, can have extreme adverse effects. If a person wants to discontinue them, they should do so under a doctor's directions.

Brian Malte, the state director at the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, stated, "It's ridiculous to say someone with a gun could have saved the day... with people running all over the place and people getting caught in the crossfire."

He doesn't let facts stand in the way of making a statement against using guns for self defense, when a lie serves his purpose better.

The invading shooter was on a stage. He was elevated, and all the students were ducking and fleeing. Anyone standing tall, or even stepping onto one of the seats, would have had an easy, clear shot. If he had not expected to be able to get off many shots, he may not have even made the attempt.

Or, the attack may not have happened at all, if the shooter had not known that in Illinois, no one would be allowed to carry a weapon.

Better still that no one was allowed to sell or give him a weapon oh, I forgot, that interferes with the freedom to make money you are so fond of.
