Six women shot in Tinley Park, Illinois

Here is a wiki summary
And an early report from Fox news
The Washington Post report
Of the six women shot, five died. The police did not release information about the sixth woman, the survivor, until later, and protected her identity (wisely, in my opinion).

Why did this violent criminal commit his murders unchallenged? Well, Illinois is one of only two states that does not allow citizens to carry weapons to protect themselves. Of course, criminals disobey the laws against carrying guns--disobeying the laws is what criminals, by definition, do. This man knew that he could take on everyone in the store at the same time, and no one could challenge him with a gun of their own.

An armed man in Colorado entered a church with the intent of killing members of the congregation, but a member carrying her own gun killed him first, and no one else died.

Is there any doubt as to which is the better outcome?

Well we could start with Exodus 20:13 and amplify it with Matthew 5:43-48 and Romans 12:17-21

Thank You Simon, I agree.
The fact that weapons are so readily available makes it so much easier for these events to happen. A normally sane person will not resort to violence when confronted with any situation. The problem is, the people who resort to violence are not quite sane. If they have ready access to a weapon, they could well use it. Were it less accessible, they might resort to a weapon that is less destructive. It seems that America is the only western culture that has problems such as these on a regular basis. It is also the only Western Culture that has a ready supply of weapons for the masses.
