No End In Sight

This film was first released in cinemas last January and was shown on E4 last week. Wiki description

It interviewed many disaffected Bush supporters who had been involved in the control of Iraq after the war. The errors were many and the West will be paying a heavy price for the ineptitude displayed for many years to come.

If you haven't seen it already, I'd encourage you to watch it.

It's easy to see problems in hindsight. But, if other choices had been made, we would have faced different problems.

If former Bathists had been welcomed to function in government, how many of them would have sabotaged the new government? How much information would they have passed on to terrorist forces? How many assasinations might have resulted? If one man in 100 is disloyal, that's enough to blow up a building.

There was not enough quality body armor or sufficient armored vehicles for the number of troops we sent. If we sent more, how many of the unarmored men would have been killed easily? How many would have died in unarmored vehicles?

Would we instead be discussing the stupidity of sending in a force so large that we could not replace them when their term of combat was over? ("Nobody should be such a bonehead as to send in more than half of their troops at the outset--now they have no replacements!")
