I was really disappointed when I first saw the Mona Lisa in the 80s and it was difficult getting close enough to see it properly after the publication
of The Da Vinci Code. It has certainly been a talking point for a long time. I'm sure another expert will be along in a minute to say why it isn't
La Giocondo.

Nodding... Like so many pieces of art work, the reality can disappoint, particularly if it comes after an entire museum's worth of other art!
When we took the kids to Florence, and David, for that matter, as he'd not been there either, I insisted that we more or less march through the
Academy, stopping at nothing, until we reached the David at the end. THAT had impact - then we went back around (after ice cream), and looked at the
Fra Angelico paintings and particularly at the captives that line the way to the David...
