Error loading operating system!!!

Hi al , i will try to keep this short!
i bought a new gfx card for my pc, sapphire 512 ddr3 (AGP).
After installing it i turned on my pc to get this message...ERROR LOADING OPERATING SYSTEM....
So i took out the card and put my old 1 back in now i still get the same message so i boot from HDD but now my DVD ROM is not being recognized ?. Could anyone help me i,m completley lost?.
Every time i boot up now i have to go into boot options by pressing the ESC key and choose HDD. And i cant run windows xp because the dvd ron wont work!!!!.
If i can get the dvd rom to work maybe a reinstall of windows might help?
Thanks for your time max

Have you checked to endure all the cables and cards are connected firmly, fitting extra items can sometimes result in moving other fittings.
Also go into the BIOS and make sure your boot options are in the right sequence and that they are all active.
When you boot up do you get any lights on the DVD drive.
