The Golden Compass (again!)

We went to see the film at the weekend. It was really well done, adapted slightly from the book but not in a way to upset purists like me. The special effects lived up to expectations and the casting was very good indeed. Possibly the best film I've seen at the cinema this year.

If it is a great enough financial success, they will surely get the next books made into movies.

I predict some people who had no trouble with the first movie will eventually find the quest to kill God disturbing, especially if their children embrace the idea as it is presented in an exciting, vivid, visually enchanting way.
