pr0-meta pharmacological treatment for addiction
I saw part of the 60 minutes program. Several former addicts, after years of addiction to meth or cocaine, reported that the treatment took away
their craving for their drugs.
The advocates think the combination of several drugs which have been approved by the FDA for other uses changes the patient's brain chemistry, to
take away the feeling of urgent need. Use for this purpose is an off-label use.
This could be a truly wonderful aid for those who desire recovery. It would not substitute for therapy that helps a person live successfully without
drugs, but it would help people for whom the craving is the deal-breaker (the impossible obstacle).
