Close shave last night

Interesting night last night - was out with my 10-year old putting away the ducks/chickens when a squall came out of no-where with horizontal sheets of solid rain. This spooked one of the ducks so we ran to corner it before it bolted for cover under the bushes - lucky job we did 'cos a 35' conifer took that time to snap near the base and fall where we were just standing. Also lucky was that the cows were not in the back field as they often stand near our trees for cover over night. I now have a ton of chain-sawing to do before I can replace the barbed wire fence. :(

I guess the upside is I now have plenty of firewood (although it will take a year to dry adequately).

T

ps: This is just the proverbial straw at the moment :(
