Solstice at Stonehenge

Solstice at Stonehenge.

Lord of the Sun, Lady of the Moon,
Spirits and Elements of the Earth.
We are gathered in your name
to watch the new day’s birth.
Mighty Sarsens and Bluestones
encircle and protect the site
where they stand in silent witness
of our summer solstitial rite.

Morning star probes the mist
of dawn’s sleepy horizon;
Ghosts insinuate the shadows,
echoes of times long gone.
How many times, how many lives
have answered this call
and been lost in awe and wonder
at the majesty of it all.

For some reason tt actually missed out the last verse - here is the whole poem:-

Solstice at Stonehenge.

Lord of the Sun, Lady of the Moon,
Spirits and Elements of the Earth.
We are gathered in your name
to watch the new day’s birth.
Mighty Sarsens and Bluestones
encircle and protect the site
where they stand in silent witness
of our summer solstitial rite.

Morning star probes the mist
of dawn’s sleepy horizon;
Ghosts insinuate the shadows,
echoes of times long gone.
How many times, how many lives
have answered this call
and been lost in awe and wonder
at the majesty of it all.

Circles within circles, the place,
the dance, the wheel of time,
in solemn celebration
of Mother Nature’s chime.
Glorious, golden sunrise
sends night forth in disarray,
touching us all in blessing;
All Hail mid summer day.
