I like that song :)

Never actually heard that before. It's a great video, plenty going on. Quite artistic..

When I heard the name 'Hera' I was thinking of 'Zeus's' misses ;)

Thanks for sharing that Simon, She sounds great. I'm not sure about the facial tats, though. In one way they are beautiful, but, in others, it tends to detract from a beautiful face. It made me wonder if it's just my aversion to tats, showing. She can sing for me again.

A most enjoyable voice, I just wonder if she will still enjoy the decorations when she is 60 and has grand children.confused2

She certainly has. I just gave it another listen and I have copied it off Youtube for myself. I shall see what else there is on her.

It's amazing what wonders lye out there in the world of music that we never expect to like, simply because we have never heard of them.

Here's an interesting one Click here

It's amazing...song and video (creepy) and (Haunting) :o

Have you only just discovered Portishead TC? I don't know, you youngsters. They've just released their third album having released their first, Dummy, in the early 90s.

When she's in her rocking chair, on the lawn of the old folks home, she'll look at them and be able to say "I did it, I was out there"

Regards the Bear

Way to go, it's post count boost time.

Sorry TC, I was assuming from your previous comment:

Quote:
simply because we have never heard of them.
to mean that you had only just come across Portishead, after all, due to the release of their third album, they are in the headlines at the moment.

I must admit my reason for posting the clip wasn't just the music, but also her appearance, hence the thread title.

She's Icelandic by birth and Kiwi by adoption and both societies have a culture of tattooing so I doubt she will regret her decision to follow those cultures.

It's okay, I can see why it sounded misleading. I do love Portishead and even have three t-shirts I wear often. with their logo - that big (P)

She does look quite nice :) and the video for (Humming) is simply unbelievable.. I'm glad I posted it.

I think it looks good in B&W. There is still a demand for those two colours.

I see that Portishead and Bjork are both Icelandic. I like her too... Thats coincidental and she's crazy!!!lips_sealed

They look as though they could be the temporary type, Bear, surely no woman in her right mind would have a permanent tattoo that size on her face? I loathe tattoos - they are bad enough on men, but on women ? Yuk! Cheap and tarty.

SRD - 10-5-2008 at 07:08

So Nimuae, you don't accept other people's customs and traditions?

I didn't say that SRD. People are, and should be, free to follow any custom/tradition they please. I respect that - but that doesn't mean that I like it, and not liking something is not a matter of disrespect, it is a matter of personal opinion. In my opinion tattoos, from whatever cullture, are not at all attractive.

Hardly respectful of tradition.

LSemmens - 11-5-2008 at 11:20

In western society, it is often viewed as cheap and tarty, but, in her culture, it is seen as marks of distinction. Just because she looks like us doesn't mean that she is one of us. Our prejudices can be challenged by someone like her. I've already said that it does not appeal to me, but, I also said that it has challenged my own prejudices.

Nimuae - 12-5-2008 at 11:27

I am not being disrespectful SDR, I am expressing a personal opinion, and, in my personal opinion, tattoos on men look unattractive, on women they look cheap and tarty.

In this girl's own culture/tradition this kind of thing may be acceptable, I don't know enough to say one way or the other.

To me, it diminishes rather than enhances the girl's own natural beauty, and, as someone else asked, what on earth will it look like when she is older?

TooCute4Words - 12-5-2008 at 21:02

I hate tattoos too, YUK !!:(:(

Nobody is injecting ink into my skin :(
