eReaders

I know nothing. But in basic principle are they all like the Kindle, where ( as I understand it ) you buy your reader and are then locked in to getting your books from one specific supplier ( Amazon I believe in this case ), or are there ones you can buy books from wherever you want on your pc, then load them onto the eReader of your choice?

thankingyou

I use the Kindle when I go on holiday or am going to be waiting for an appointment and it works very well. I like being able to download a book the second I decide to get it without having to leave the house or wait for an online order.

If only all my orders were carried out so fast...

Prefer books, myself.

The batteries never go flat, for one. ;)

I'm with you on that one Katzy - had one to play with for a week-end and didn't care for it. A kindle to me is a group of kittens !

I've not even bothered to try one out.

Call me a Luddite, but electronic things have a tendency to, well, not work, properly.

Books tend to work, most of the time. :D

Except when you read one in the bath and drop it in the water, of course. waggyfinger

An E-Book is likely to suffer a terminal problem if you do that Giron, at least a real book can still be readable!

It's always best to put you e book in a plastic bag, making sure it's completely watertight, before dropping it in the bath water. teacher_mode

The same principle applies if you are reading a gentleman's magazine in the bath.
