MS Excel Alternative
Mick Johnson - 20-4-2008 at 10:17

Anyone know of a good, free, alternative prog for Excel?

I already have a 'Word' alternative 'Abiword' which is every bit as good for me and of course free.

I have 'Open Office' as well but it's a rather big program so really lookinf for something small......and free.

Why can you not just install calc? If you don't need the rest of OO.

I am going to do that but thought there may be something else a bit smaller.

I installed just 'calc' and 'writer' a while ago to try them and iirc it was 300mb or more.

Abiword is just 22mb.

Gnumeric is nice, free, and less than 20MB...

Maybe someone has an old version of 123 for DOS that you can have.

Thank's for that Daniel, after a quick play it seems exactly what I was looking for.

Good one Daniel, I knew nothing of those!

Daniel, do you have any problems printing from Gnumeric.

I ask becuase I can't get it to print anything properly.

All I get is the top half of the text and it's also mirrored.

It does not bring up the usual 'printer properties' you get with most every prog but has it's own that I can't just workout.
