Racial voting trends
marymary100 - 6-11-2012 at 23:23
According to CNN: 73% voters today were White, 13% Black, 10% Latino. Comparing to 2008 -1 for Whites, +1 Latino
Of those voters who were asked about the biggest economic problem facing “people like you,” 40% said it was unemployment, 37% said rising prices, 13%
said taxes and 8% said it was the housing market.
Of those who voted today, 24% said they were doing better today compared with four years ago, 34% said they were doing worse and 41% said they were
doing about the same.

Those doing "about the same"--did they notice that gasoline prices are about twice as high? That higher fuel prices means everything delivered by
truck costs more?

If you don't have to earn the money to pay for it who cares?

Even Fox News said "The President can't control Oil Prices."

Karl Rove on Fox: "I'd have gotten away with it if it weren't for those meddling kids & their dog."

A President doesn't control oil prices, as such. But, his policies greatly influence them, pushing them upward or downward.
Take the high gasoline prices during part of George W. Bush's second term, for example. They had gone up with the disruptions caused by Hurricane
Katrina. He suspended the requirements for each regional-seasonal gasoline formulation, which (when in effect) gives each area of the country an
artifically limited gasoline supply, since the gas stations are only supposed to sell their own approved regional formulation. By removing this
restriction, Bush influenced the gasoline price downward.
A President can put upward pressure on gasoline prices by being restrictive with respect to drilling on federal lands, and can put downward pressure
on prices by being less restrictive on drilling. President Obama has acted against the interests of the United States with the excuse that, even if
he approved drilling right now, it would take years before the oil would actually be brought to market. But, the fact is, if you set in motion a
policy toward greater availability of oil, it shows up first in futures markets, and works backwards toward today's supplies, because no one wants to
be holding on to huge stores of oil which was procuced earlier, if the price is dropping.
But, I do agree that the President doesn't control oil prices, and that some influences are outside his control Military conflicts that are
disruptive inside other countries is one such example.

The President does NOT control oil prices here, or in Greater Europe, so, how come they have gone up here and in Europe?
Redwolf5150 - 8-11-2012 at 01:05
And how does any of that change the fact that ANY oil we pull out of the ground HERE has to go to the World Market to be sold BACK to us again?
You've beaten this tired "President's Policy Controls Oil Prices" horse until it is canned dog food and nobody here is buying your argument.
Surrender before you start looking like you're raving and Ruby has to put you in a hospital.

Enid Blyton gets read in America?
Redwolf5150 - 8-11-2012 at 13:58
Actually that's a reference to that CLASSIC American cartoon Scooby Doo.
The villain would ALWAYS say that at the end when they were unmasked.
marymary100 - 8-11-2012 at 19:58
Yes, but it was plagiarised from Enid's Famous Five books...
Redwolf5150 - 8-11-2012 at 22:19
Tell it to Hanna-Barbara
marymary100 - 8-11-2012 at 22:38
It's well documented which came first.

You'd Lose RW, Plagiarism is alive and well in the "Land of the (not so) Free! Enid should sue their pants, that is, after all, the "American
Way". Even if she's not American, or still alive.....
