Local media reports in Huntsville say the shooting happened after Prof Bishop found out she had been denied academic tenure, which guarantees job security.

What a shocking waste of human lives.

Gun culture seems to be way of life for some people in America, so, unfortunately, these sort of massacres will surely continue.

It certainly makes no sense for Prof. Bishop to shoot the department head and the others when she did not get tenure. It isn't as if she would improve her situation by doing so.:(

The radio news reported that she was saying she couldn't believe it had really happened.

That's the problem, nutters like her have easy access to guns and horrific incidents like this happen.

Killed before and her husband is under arrest as well for some reason.

She'd killed before and yet she still managed to get hold of a gun?confused2

This is yet another example of the gun culture in America, they seem to believe that they've got a God given right to own guns and, of course, if they've got a gun they may be tempted to use it.

Why else would they carry a handgun, if it's not to shoot people?

"Give us you poor, your insane, your homicidal maniacs...." isn't that how it goes along with "the right to bear arms". I think that when the American Constitution was written, someone made a typo and it should have been the "right to bare arms", problem is, no one was smart enough to pick up on it.
