marymary100 - 16-1-2010 at 11:46

How much do you know without looking it up?

LSemmens - 16-1-2010 at 12:54

Nothing! I ain't American!

Dreamweaver - 16-1-2010 at 15:50

4 out of 10, not bad for a non citizen:)

giron - 16-1-2010 at 17:08

I only got 1 correct answer.

Mind you, that's not too bad considering I thought Obama was the President of Armenia.

Daz - 16-1-2010 at 17:51

Same as Dot.

scholar - 16-1-2010 at 22:47

Why don't the questions display on my browser?:(

giron - 16-1-2010 at 22:49

Perhaps the BBC site has banned you? :D

Nimuae - 16-1-2010 at 23:27

4 out of 10 - and I didn't realize that he had been around for a year already !

Flash per chance?
How do I determine if that is the problem?

In the box where I expected to see the questions, I saw a graphic that said "loading 13%," but it did not increase.

I have a wonderful utility disk that is full of miscellaneous programs. Would it have what I need?

scholar - 17-1-2010 at 00:59

Oh, something else--on another day, I got a prompt box telling me to install java. But, I know that some of the web sites I visit use javascript (so says a prompt which Opera displays when I move the curser over certain buttons), and the buttons work for me. I am forcibly reminded of this if I ever select to open the button in a new window, which doesn't work.:P

marymary100 - 17-1-2010 at 01:09

Maybe it just doesn't work on such slow speeds.

scholar - 17-1-2010 at 01:21

:( I'm sorry to distract from the OP. I wish I could just read the questions from a text version, if I can't fix my problem quickly.

As closely as I follow Obama, I think I would do well.smokin:

LSemmens - 17-1-2010 at 13:31

It requires Flash, but for some reason, after the first four questions, it gave up allowing me to answer any more.

giron - 17-1-2010 at 14:16

Come on Matilda, do the decent thing and C&P the questions here, so scholar and Leigh can take part in the quiz. :)

That sound like a job for someone who is an ex-GPO employee. You could even drink tea while you did it.

giron - 17-1-2010 at 14:25

Yes, John can do it, if he ever sobers up. :D

waffler - 18-1-2010 at 03:38

1 outta 10 :D

delanti - 19-1-2010 at 03:31

7 out of 10, I missed on the social questions. The musician who had not played the WH, what Obama and Michele did on their date and what his code name is. All irrelevant to being President I would say.waveysmiley

Quaver - 19-1-2010 at 07:01

3 out of 10. And they were lucky guesses:D

Java is an essential part of internet life now. It is on your DVD. ;)

Or can be found HERE (Offline and online installations)

Adobe Flash Player, and Shockwave Here (These also on your DVD, but one release out of date now.)

7 Elton John

9 I disqualify myself, because I was curious and looked it up after Delanti spoke about it
10 I think remember it was about eating, but I'm not sure where. I'll guess it was the ice cream parlor.

Ooops sorry:

Q8 In December President Obama accepted the Nobel Peace Prize. Which of the following US presidents did not receive that honour?

Jimmy Carter
Fanklin D Roosevelt
Theodore Roosevelt
Woodrow Wilson

Quaver - 21-1-2010 at 01:52

You haven't replied to Q8 Scholar;)

scholar - 21-1-2010 at 01:56

Well, since Carter and Wilson won the prizes, that leaves Roosevelt and Roosevelt as non-winners, I think. But that is not really an Obama question, it dates back to before he was even born a citizen of . . . . :P:P:P

Quaver - 21-1-2010 at 02:16

5/10:D

Answers are:

Q1 On his first full day in office President Obama's first executive order dealt with public access to presidential records past and present.

Q2 On February 19, 2009 President Obama made his first trip abroad to Ottawa, Canada.

Q3 The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act became the first legislation President Obama signed into law.

Q4 All three - he ended the speech saying: "The people of the world can live together in peace. We know that is God's vision. Now, that must be our work here on Earth."

Q5 In May 2008 Barack Obama apologised to a reporter for calling her "sweetie", saying it was a "bad habit".

Q6 The Salahis gained access to a state dinner hosted by President Obama on 24 November.

Q7 Elton John is the only one of these performers who has not played at the White House... yet.

Q8 Jimmy Carter, Woodrow Wilson and Theodore Roosevelt all received the Nobel Peace Prize.

Q9 Barack Obama is called Renegade - Trailblazer was President George W Bush.

Q10 The couple's first date was to the Spike Lee movie Do the Right Thing.

marymary100 - 21-1-2010 at 07:09

I thought scholar would have done better than that. I got 6 which I thought was not bad for a non-citizen. Delanti did best I think?

That one was really quite easy since FDR was in office during the war years there was not much opportunity to win a peace prize.waveysmiley

He said he knows the answer to Q9, so I added that;)

giron - 23-1-2010 at 10:16

As he didn't actually answer question 9, he shouldn't get a point.

What's the point of having a quiz if people are going to cheat?

I could claim that I got 10/10 when I did the quiz for a second time, but that wouldn't count, would it? waggyfinger

Absolutely NOT !

4/10 is a very generous score, under the circumstances. waggyfinger

marymary100 - 23-1-2010 at 12:14

I've never thought of you as generous giron - not recently at any rate.

giron - 23-1-2010 at 14:57

Firm but fair, that's me, in any case scholar scored more than I did, on the other hand, I didn't boast about being an expert on the subject.

BTW, I'm very impressed that you haven't boasted about your score, even though it was the second highest.

Perhaps you could spare some time to give scholar some extra tuition on the subject?
If he doesn't do well, you can make him stay behind in detention, or, as a last resort, give him a jolly good tawsing.
