Says it all, really. He was honest enough to admit his failings and "fall on his sword". If all leaders, christian or otherwise, were as honest, we would be in a far better place.

Another Jerry Falwell (?) moment I guess. I have a real problem with TV evangelism as I see it as something that takes money from the vulnerable rather than actually about "spreading the word". American religious programming sickened me. At least the UK version is more subtle about asking for your dosh.

It's more a cultural thing, Mary. Americans tend to be far more materialistic than other countries. In some circles, the mere mention of money would cause offence whereas, in others, if you failed to mention it, you'd be regarded with suspicion. I'm not always enamoured with American TV evangelists myself, however, some years ago we did attend a bible college run under the auspices of Kenneth Copeland ministries and I found the teaching was very sound and quite practical.
