I was looking up something else yesterday and Google - which is a mine of information - gave me links to all the "ministries" in the area. When I
clicked on a couple of them it seemed to me that any Tom, Dick or Henrietta can set themselves up as a ministry and any money which they get is tax
free. There were claims of feeding the hungry and things but no evidential proof. Even although a photo on the internet would not have proved their
claims, there wasn't even that.
Don't you think that ministries should be regulated and transparent and pay to Caesar that which is Caesar's?
It was an American situation I was talking about actually. It is my firm belief that many of these "ministries" are scams and that the gullible give
donations which are then not used in the way that they were led to believe.
One of our "God channels" has relocated out of the UK, as far as their official headquarters are concerned, because they don't want scrutiny of their accounts. I am most displeased that my parents have been sending them money on the back of promises made on tv.
So of these so called ministries are nothing more that organised begging machines.

There are criminal liars who fly the Christian flag, taking people's money without spending it as promised--just as one will find in almost any
business or area of life.
There are genuine Christian ministries who submit to audits and broadly report how they spend the money entrusted to them (but, they might mask the names of some of the needy who receive help, for the sake of their own privacy). There is an Evangelical organization devoted to financial responsibility.
And, there are Christian ministries where the people do fine work of service, but who are not good at financial planning and reporting. Some of these have genuine financial emergencies from time to time, and the stress of bills coming due while the group depends on donations to sustain them can sometimes be seen in their appeals for help. No one likes to fire support staff, but you can't keep people working without paying them, either.
Many things are done in the name of God that God has no part in. Much as the idiots who fly the flag of Islam are doing little to promote their cause.
There are priests who are paedophiles, does that make all priests paedophiles? A mechanic, or two () is charged with murder.....you get my drift.
Should there be more scrutiny? That could be difficult, as, if you change the rules to deal with a few bad apples, it might have an unintended effect of affecting genuine services that can ill afford compliance with the new rules. Sorta like blowing up the wall to kill the fly.
