Here is the story of the recent graduation ceremony for Merrill High School in "49,000 words."
Or, in other words, my PREFERRED method of covering something like that: Two cameras, one a newer model with higher ISO sensitivity and a wide angle lens, the other my trust 40D with my 70-200 f4 for long range shots.
I turned in 52 shots, so they must be in tomorrow's print edition. THEN they will appear with the others.
Is this just a High School? Graduation here tends to be reserved for university-speak.
Excellent photos but perhaps I should point out that its "a" picture paints a thousand "words" not the other way round.
I was right, the missing three -- the three I would have used on page 1, are on page 1 of the print edition.
One week only
People on here who also are my friends on Facebook will recognize the image on the bottom left as an alternate shot of the shot I made into a photo
illustration for my cover photo there.

Down here, Mary, it appears that graduation has filtered right down through the system so that kids even "graduate" from kindy! The pomp and ceremony of University graduates, though remains.
