RETURN of the Photo Salon
Redwolf5150 - 28-4-2009 at 03:24
Okay, same rules as last time (check Number 16 you newbies).
Theme is Spring.
I will judge the winner and two runner ups next Monday evening (May 4). The winner will than get to pick the next theme and be the judge.
And away we go!
(ONE change to the rules: Subsequent Salons must be numbered in ROMAN Numerals)
scholar - 28-4-2009 at 08:55
If you will post a link to Number 16, or make a quote box with the rules, Waffler and Snowy will have a
chance to figure out what you're talking about.
Snowy - 28-4-2009 at 09:09
This looks interesting, I had better get my camera out. Last week looked lovely up the Strath, all yellow, gorse, daffodils, primrose, dandelions. I
know the daffs are dying off but I will try and get a good picture.
ps, where do I look for rule 16?
Daz - 28-4-2009 at 09:10
Just after rule 15, and just before rule 17.
Snowy - 28-4-2009 at 09:15
Hmm !..not much help that Daz !
What does HTH's mean please?
Dreamweaver - 28-4-2009 at 09:53
You will need to rehash the rules J, The move and subsequent cull has lost the beginning of that thread.....
Dreamweaver - 28-4-2009 at 09:55
HTH'= Hope that helps.
Mary2 - 28-4-2009 at 09:56
Own photo, taken recently, submitted by the deadline- that was about it?
Redwolf5150 - 28-4-2009 at 10:15
Yup, that's it. One photo per poster, so choose wisely.
Snowy - 28-4-2009 at 10:42
Yes it does....Thank you Dreamweaver.
Quaver - 28-4-2009 at 12:19
That wasn't the case before...

LSemmens - 29-4-2009 at 13:33
I've forgotten what we were talking about now.
Snowy - 2-5-2009 at 11:25
Am I right in thinking that the competition ends on 4th May and no one has posted a picture yet?
I have got 3 ready but they are not very good but its the taking part that matters.
Do I post them here or somewhere else.
Quaver - 2-5-2009 at 12:20
That's because we are only allowed one picture, so we are waiting till the very end to submit
Quaver - 2-5-2009 at 13:49

If it gets more submissions, I hereby LIFT the one photo restriction!

Nimuae - 3-5-2009 at 09:44
Here is my entry ...
LSemmens - 3-5-2009 at 11:03
I'd love to post more, but there is nothing that is distinctly "springy". I thought of a photo of a spring, but none came to hand, so just think
that I posted it.
Nimuae - 3-5-2009 at 11:57
Yipee! Love your new avatar!
Nimuae - 3-5-2009 at 11:58
casting clouts everywhere!
Nimuae - 3-5-2009 at 12:01
there were three (or four) little pigs ...
Nimuae - 3-5-2009 at 12:04
the lane to the bus stop is lined with these lovely trees...
Nimuae - 3-5-2009 at 12:06
Snapped at Missom Garden Centre ...
LSemmens - 3-5-2009 at 12:48
That piggy photo is spring? Looks like our Winter!
Nimuae - 3-5-2009 at 13:19
It was taken on 25th March, in Lincolnshire - it does look a little bleak, the leaves are not quite out on the trees!
LSemmens - 4-5-2009 at 14:29
Awk! too big.
LSemmens - 4-5-2009 at 14:45
DeWitch - 4-5-2009 at 17:18
This is fabulous!!!
DeWitch - 4-5-2009 at 17:19
WONDERFUL - did you create that water feature?
If so GREAT job!!!
Snowy - 5-5-2009 at 07:51
When will we know who has won the competition?
My money is on one of Nimuae's efforts !
LSemmens - 5-5-2009 at 11:50
No, it's in a friend's garden. I did have a small hand in modifying one of the lower waterfalls but that is all. She opens her garden as part of
Australia's Open Garden Scheme every September (Spring down here) as the property is one mass of flowers. She sells thousands of bulbs with the
proceeds going the Christian Blind Missions International. These photos were taken the weekend of the open day, except it wasn't open last year,
except for my daughter's wedding.
DeWitch - 5-5-2009 at 12:11
What a beautiful place and wonderful for a wedding Would love to be able to
view it in person.
LSemmens - 5-5-2009 at 12:17
My youngest is getting married in the same garden, this year.
DeWitch - 5-5-2009 at 12:28
I had taken some photos for this but not posted them yet as I thought that I read (must have been in another thread) that it was not ending till next
Now I reread this (checking on Snowy's question):
and realize that I should have posted them last week earlier but slacked off because I was busy since the idiots hosting my website made a mistake
and deleted the whole thing the middle of last week PLUS all my email addresses so have been busy getting it back online & looking for a new
Snowy - 5-5-2009 at 12:32
Can you not sneak one in DeWitch before Redwolf signs in?
I am sure he will never know.
DeWitch - 5-5-2009 at 13:14
HA HA HA
you are a little
but he is probably already done judging.
Will attach one of my favorites though just so you can see.
I had so many, actually, I couldn't make up my mind which to post and then got sidetracked with my loss.
DeWitch - 5-5-2009 at 13:18
She has some lovely ones,
my favorite is the one of the pig family
I love your waterway photo too.
DeWitch - 5-5-2009 at 13:21
That is something to look forward to
LSemmens - 5-5-2009 at 15:42
Redwolf5150 - 5-5-2009 at 19:36
RESULTS: (Sorry, whatever made me think I'd have time on the night before paper production to judge these?)
Nimuae's Purple Flowers
What can I say, I'm a sucker for a good floral close-up.
I came THIS close to switching the order of finish in their favor.
That is a scene I'd like to plop down next to for a nice long stretch myself.
So Nimuae gets to post the next theme. Please start a NEW THREAD entitled Return of the Photo Salon II (So as not to be mistaken for the old ones)
Please reiterate the basic rules along with your selected theme.
marymary100 - 5-5-2009 at 19:44
Well done Nim and all who entered!
Snowy - 5-5-2009 at 19:49
Yes, well done Nimuae, I knew you would win, your photo's are so very clear, how do you get them so clear? I liked the one with the bridge, it
reminded me of "The Gate" but I did like your flowers, they were lovely !
DeWitch - 5-5-2009 at 19:52
To the winners and also for the beautiful entries of all
victor - 5-5-2009 at 20:01
O dear I missed the deadline,
Never mind this would have been my entry.
Redwolf5150 - 5-5-2009 at 20:02
I'd have probably have had to wrestle with the third place decision a lot if yours had been entered in time Dewitch. I love that type of flower so
much I'm whining at Jackie to plant some for me (to no effect, so far).
Snowy - 5-5-2009 at 20:12
Victor, I encouraged Mary to put a photo in of lambs, they are what spring is all about. Your photo is lovely and I am sure it would have won if you
had it in on time..better luck next time!
DeWitch - 5-5-2009 at 20:51
It was not entered since I missed the deadline - just posted so you would know I was thinking about it. Also when I downsize them it takes a lot of
the clarity away.
I have a shot of the biggest, most gorgeous, Trillium I have seen here yet - that was another consideration if I had paid attention to the
Victor's was a nice one too, love the lambs.
But Nimuae's spring piglets & mother were tops in my mind
I loved the composition of that shot with the trees branches framing the top, etc. To me that matters almost as much as the subject of the shot.
Like my daffs I could have cropped for a closer shot but I preferred the bark of the tree behind them and the other clusters of daffs in the
You do it!
they are wonderful - they spread like crazy
waffler - 6-5-2009 at 00:42
Mary Mary Had a Lamb
The Doctor had a fit
Quaver - 6-5-2009 at 01:24
Well done Nimuae!
Redwolf5150 - 6-5-2009 at 01:26
Not to mention Mary's husband.
LSemmens - 6-5-2009 at 02:04
Congratulations you lot! Loverly photos all!
I'm sure my friend would not mind if you plopped yourself down next to her "creek".
Snowy - 6-5-2009 at 09:57
So have you picked a new theme for the next competition Nimuae?
Can I ask that you make it an easy subject ?
Redwolf5150 - 7-5-2009 at 19:49
All subjects are easy.
It's making them visually interesting that's the hard part.
Nimuae - 7-5-2009 at 20:45
I have just seen this - and can hardly believe it! Thank you so much. I have always seen myself as a 'happy snapper' rather than a photographer.
Nimuae - 7-5-2009 at 20:48
I love this pic - the daffies in the foreground look as though they are hugging each other !
Nimuae - 7-5-2009 at 20:52
Thank you - they were all taken with a Canon Ixus 700 digital camera. The Wind Anemones are in a lovely, sheltered 'peace garden' at our main
hospital. It has buildings on all four sides, and is a real sun trap. Kim Wilde (daughter of Marty Wilde) designed it for us.
DeWitch - 8-5-2009 at 03:00
I do love those flowers
