Okay Canon, you have me curious
Redwolf5150 - 17-9-2008 at 05:20

They announced a new PROFESSIONAL body today.

I'll wait until it's been out six months and see what the lucky first ones have to say about it.

But the sucker's specs make it look like it can do everything including bake and slice bread. It can shoot video and has a microphone jack for the same. I make the jump to a daily newspaper, I'll have to be able to shoot video anyway. Might as well be able to do it with one camera instead of being hampered with two different types of camera, like the poor guys at the Daily Herald in Wausau.

And it is set to cost, body only, at under $3,000!

Might have to start saving my pennies now!

Not just any videos.

HD Video!

But right now I'm leaning toward scooping up a new Mark I if the prices tumble. While some of the features on the Mark II are nice, there are several I'll never use.

And at 21.1 megapixels, I would have to invest in 16 GB memory cards instead of another 8 GB.

I like it, but can't justify it.

That would be $300 dollars wouldn't it? Unless the market has moved a lot during your birthday :)

OOps thanks DW to much Abbot Ale, or maybe age related. :D

I was just advised by a photographer friend of mine to get the Canon Ixus 85IS. (135 IIRC, from Jacobs Digital)

Looks good :)

I will always spend less than 201 on a camera myself, that way I know if it is nicked I can just about afford another one. Anymore and I'd have no pennies in my piggy bank left at all :o

Redwolf5150 - 19-9-2008 at 19:37

That's about all that's in mine right now, too.

:(

We've about decided that we are NOT going to Rockfest next year to concentrate our funds on some pressing things in our lives and to gear up to open a photo service.

As much as I would like to own a Mark II, if the price falls enough on the Mark I, I'll gladly take a new one of those instead.

:)
