BIOS IS PROTECTED

Bought a laptop off ebay works great only problem is the BIOS is password protected . Laptop is COMPAQ CQ 57 . Read articles about Backdoor passwords , but don't know what BIOS it uses . Need some help guys :(

There's usually a jumper, or dip-switch, to do that. Not sure where that'll be, though. On the mobo, somewhere. It'll usually be labelled. But, of course, you'll have to rip the thing apart, to find that.

Can the seller not help you?

This is a video showing how to disconnect the CMOS battery which will do the job. Hiren (I didn't mention it) has password reset tools that may, or may not, be effective.

Dont really want to spend time ripping it apart as I am going to sell it . Bought it from a pawn shop seller on ebay , so dont think they will know the password . Will put in Hirens see what comes up . :)
