Home Network sharing printer
craig1912 - 27-12-2007 at 17:14

Home pc with XP home, Belkin router, laptop with XP pro.

Lap top connects to network and can use internet. I want to share the USB printer which is connected to my main pc with the laptop. I thought I'd done everything right but can't get it to work-any ideas??

Thanks

Have you allowed access through firewalls?

Have you done all this?

Can you see the printer on the network?

I'm guessing you've run the Wizard, on both PC's?

Are your NIC's "trusted" in each firewall?

No
Yep but I'll try again
"NIC" ? oops Network Card- no in zonealarm its in the internet zone not trusted! Should I change it?

Cheers

Yep, as the Big Man (RSU) used to say, "if you can't trust your NIC's, who can you trust?"...

Just an update to say this worked and I can now use the printer.

Can use the printer if the laptop is connected to the router but can't when connected wirelessly confused2

The lap top can't see the printer.

Any ideas?

edit- sorted- I hadn't put the laptops wireless card in the trusted zone:)
