Well, some children react differently to others. Plus, in certain circumstances, a quick slap is way more effective than anything else. When they
reach out to touch a fireguard, for instance. (Showing my age, with that).
I got a few slaps and the last thing I could ever be accused of is being of a violent nature. Except, of course, that I'd love to deck Osborne...
I suppose that I was lucky, in that any slap I got was followed by a good explanation about why I got slapped.

I got smacked occasionally, and never in the heat of my parent's anger.
To use a cliché "It never did me any harm" and I laugh at the people who've tried to tell me otherwise. It didn't do my relationship with my parent's any harm at all, nor did it give me any ideas about it being ok to solve problems with violence.
