Her vegetarian diet wasn't healthy for her to IVF to take, so she began eating McDonald's food to increase her blood protein. She had been trying to have a baby for 10 YEARS without success!shocked_yellow

She was eating six meals a day. After this, she had triplets!shocked_yellowshocked_yellowshocked_yellow

My friend who has been veggie for more than a decade gets very annoyed at stories like this. It is poor diet rather than being veggie that causes the protein deficiency. Beans (kidney beans, chickpeas, lentils, etc.), nuts, soy, and low-fat dairy products produce enough protein for blood. Taking fat filled McDonalds cooked in lard is hardly healthy.

You'll note that I didn't say vegetarian diets aren't healthy, I said (as does the article) that HER vegetarian diet wasn't healthy (with respect to her IVF working).

Dennis Weaver was a vegetarian, but he used to say he didn't recommend that the average person adapt their diet simply by cutting out meat. He said the potato chips and candy bars did not have enough protein, you had to work at including vegetarian protein items.

I lived with a Vegan for a year while I was at Uni.

While she was still just a vegetarian, she put on SOOO much weight.
The culprit?

Crisps, Chocolate, Cheesy Chips (that's fries to our pals over the pond), battered onion rings....
