I had just returned from the shore with the dog this morning when the phone went.
I wondered who on earth could be ringing before 9 on a Saturday .
When I picked it up a strong gravelly voice with somewhat of an American drawl ask for the Bear!
You guessed it it was Delanti, he had just landed at Manchester Airport and was phoning to make base with a view to meeting up after the weekend.
I've actually spoken to one of our American members, now thats got to have a wow factor?
Regards the Bear
I'd ring you up but I have a feeling Jackie would skin me alive for the phone bill.
Contact. I'm impressed!
An American drawl?
Bob, does "drawl" mean you used your Southern voice?
As I reflect. . . . I wonder what Waffler's Southern voice is like? Waffler, can you do an impression of someone from Alabama?
I'm glad you are having a good day, O Bear.
When I hear Brits and Scots on radio and TV, I often wonder which of them my friends here sound like. I heard a Scotsman comedian the other day, who said there are basically two versions of the accent. One is such that others, like Englishmen, can understand it. The other is so Scottish that even he can't understand it!
Houston, we have a problem!
Wooops! Wrong contact. Tell Delanti to enjoy his holiday and not to forget us here. KF reunion time methinks. Could you organise a heap of KFer's to get together somewhere for him?
If I ever make it to England I'd love to meet up with as many KFers as possible.
But Bear, Dot and a few others would be on my short list, for sure.
Bear! You have a U2U
Have a lovely time Bear and Delanti. It's nice to think that some of our numbers are meeting up.
Have a great time
Don't think just because I am over here that I can't keep an eye on you guys though. It was good to hear a members voice, now I will have to put a
fact to it as well.
I arrived at my B&B without mishap, only raised the ire of one native on a round about. We don't have them things in NC so it will take getting used to. Never saw so many traffic cameras in my life either. You folks here must be a bunch of speeders or something.
Well, I have to join the ranks of the GPS crowd at least for the moment. My rental had a GPS and when I was in the wrong land and could not get over to make my exit, it got me back on track.
This is the first opportunity I have had to get online so I had to at least say hi but can;t spend much time on here as I have as they say, people to see and places to go.
Glad to hear you made it Delanti, enjoy your visit wont you.
Just be careful. Delanti, that pommy beer is a little stronger than the stuff you're used to! Enjoy your holiday.
Well I have a rainy afternoon to catch up on a few things. I have been out and about the Caulder Valley seeing the sights and making memories. I had
an escort yesterday but wandered off on my own today. Journeyed across the back roads and found my way to Hebden Bridge and back. Beautiful
countryside thats for sure. I saw many of the houses my ancestors lived in during the late 1800's until eary 1900's which was a treat.
I got back to Halifax and was patting my self on the back and decided to go visit the land of all things good to eat TESCOand thats when I had my downfall. Do you know how many black Vauxhalls there are in a TESCO parking lot? Good thing for remotes, just started pushing until I saw lights flashing.
I am getting this roundabout thing down pat. Only had one red haired lady (thought it might be you know who) waving her fist at me. Might wander across the road to McMillians Pub later when I get thirsty. I can crawl back from there just so long as I don't get my fingers run over.
At least you didn't have to have security look for your car for you! At one shopping centre, my mother got caught. It's embarrasing to have to hear a call over the PA, "has anyone seen a black Vauxhall registration number XYZ123" in the car park! Let us know how you like hot beer.
Hi Delanti! Glad you're having a good time over here Enjoy the rest of your trip.
