wasent there some irish guys who set up a winter wanderland, a couple of years ago, and people were complaining because it was just a few christmas light on a tree?

Aye they hold a press night for the media and some photographers. It's usually one or two days ahead of the years official opening. The first year when they had the fire display you could ask for the display to be re-run to ensure you got the shots. Last year it wasn't as good as half the displays wasn't ready due to a bad RTA and atrocious weather. However it was still fun.

The fire display I used for the media presentation I showed a few years back. This is from last year:

It looks loverly, I saw something similar when I was on holiday in Switzerland one Christmas, a small river gorge and a winding forest path had been lit and at each turn of the path the frozen waterfalls below were bathed in overlapping strobe light.

Very nice.

There's a little wooded pathway in Torbay that used to be lit up like that years ago, quite near the theatre there. Not been there for years now.
