Oh, I see. As I mentioned, in your other thread, I use VirtualDub. That's the only freebie I have. Only AVI output, though. I guess you could output into uncompressed AVI and convert to something else, though, if you wanted to.

I use Audacity to convert the files I edit in Audio Cleaning Lab to mp3 using Lame.

It was the video aspect I was looking for. Youtube and all that.

Audacity? http://audacityteam.org/about/

ocenaudio? http://www.ocenaudio.com.br/en/whatis

I still use Audition portable for a few things. But, I use those two, more often.

Google is your friend. ;) I came across this article, which might give you some clues. I'm, unfortunately, not a video aficionado, so cannot offer any suggestions. Another "best of" could be of assistance.

(Thanks to Leigh for the suggestion)

So I've downloaded Windows Movie Maker and it is very similar to AVS but sadly lacking in options. I downloaded another freebie that is on the list of free programmes pinned to the top of the forum but that looks a bit disappointing too.

My old version of AVS was actually quite basic and the effects were all very cliched and off the peg but I knew how to use it.

So, having been put off by the renting idea Adobe use, what is out there for free or at a reasonable price?
