I always liked the subtle humour in Star Trek. My favourite has always been Star Trek IV - The voyage home.

(One of my favorite scenes from Star Trek V)

Kirk: What does God need with a starship?

McCoy: Jim, what are you doing?

Kirk: I'm asking a question.

"God": Who is this creature?

Kirk: Who am I? Don't you know? Aren't you God?

Sybok: He has his doubts.

"God": You doubt me?

Kirk: I seek proof.

McCoy: Jim! You don't ask the Almighty for his ID!

"God": Then here is the proof you seek.

[Hits Kirk with lightning]

Kirk: Why is God angry?

Sybok: Why? Why have you done this to my friend?

"God": He doubts me.

Spock: You have not answered his question. What does God need with a starship?

"God": [Hits Spock with lightning. Then addresses McCoy] Do you doubt me?

McCoy: I doubt any God who inflicts pain for his own pleasure.

Oh......I'm not sure that's fair. Who do you think attacks God then?

Nio Bear, He doesn't need protecting. It would appear that the only people who wish to protect God, are the apologists. Those who wish to attack him, seem without number!

Certainly interesting. The article appeared to be quite balanced in its treatment of the topic.

As John has said, atheists don't attack god, how can they? they don't think god exists.
My attacks are on religion, belief, the justifications of the faithful, the corruption of the young by the religious, the money making of the religious, the hypocrisy of the religious etc. etc.

This is pretty much my point.

I don't particularly want atheists to continually tell me I'm wrong, so why would I do the same for them?

I was trying to avoid this thread because I didn't feel it was aimed in my direction.

But I was staring at it on the activity page, waiting for some one to drop another hook with a worm on it when something occured to me.

Why would they feel the need to defend God? I dont think atheists actually ever go out of their way to attack God. Why would they? We just sort of get on with stuff.

I suppose we may, occassionally attack certain aspects of organised religion, but isn't that a fair cop?
