I drove across the entire UP of Michigan once...

In a blizzard...

At NIGHT...

To see my daughter for three hours on her birthday about 10 years ago.

I'm not a hero.

They have hotels a plenty where I work.

Bad enough to be dangerous. I remember getting caught in a snowstorm in Fairfax County. My 15 minute drive home after they closed the school - too late - took over 4 hours because snow fell so quickly that road after road was closed off. It was wheel arch high by the time I got home.

Define "Bad Weather?"

What some people call Hell, I call HOME.

50 miles in bad weather isn't that enticing though.

Going to commute for a while. Only 50 miles.

People commute to big cities from the burbs that far.

And it's 50 miles FURTHER NORTH...

With TWO cameras on the seat next to me...

So it's All Good

OMG!

Where did The Dock in Tranquility Bay go?

At least Jules the Bunny has a nice place to crash ~ UNDER the Dock.

Spotted on one of my morning drives.

And YES, I really did say "Here, Kitty, Kitty, Kitty" as I took the photos.

Still plenty of eagles by the open water below dams on the Wisconsin River

[bad img]http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a224/redwolf5150/12913-1_0183BrotherEagle_zpsf419b1c2.jpg[/bad img]

And the Trumpeter Swans are also taking advantage of the open water.

Not ALL the bald eagles up here migrate in the winter.

This is one of a nesting pair north of town whose home range includes TWO dams on the Wisconsin River, so they can fish year round.

[bad img]http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a224/redwolf5150/13313-1_0081BrotherEagle_zpsf438da6f.jpg[/bad img]

(But if you want a BUNCH of eagles at one time this time of year, there are a couple sports on the Mississippi River or Green Bay where they gather to winter over en mass.

That's their FALL coat.

I'll go back in a couple months and get a shot when they are full on wooly.
