Couldn't install graphics driver:( It could be because I downloaded the wrong one, or it's because it is Safe Mode.

Anyway, as Leigh said, there is an option to restore without touching personal files (was one of the option when going into Safe Mode), so I have proceeded with that.

At my parents, so didn't want to do this, but as I will have to rely on 'Three' mobile broadband for the next 10 days or so, it's done.

PC back to normalkewl_glasses

Now to downloading/installing loads of stuff:comp2)
I'm going to have to leave the external DVD writer and the installation disks here (can't take them with me, too much luggage. Easyjet...).

Parents' ADSL internet a bit slow..meditatering

If you put the Windoze disk (or usb stick) in and boot from that, it will give you the option of repairing Windoze without damaging any of your current stuff. Has werked for me.

I'll do that now:)

Ah yes, I'll do that on my phone.

It's called safe mode for a reason hopefully. ;)

I'm going to be away from tomorrow for 2 weeks, and my Windows 10 laptop decided to completely freeze on me:smash)

It started when I uninstalled Word 2000. It worked on Windows 8.1, but not 10. Then I was reading somewhere that some people got it working, so I uninstalled, hoping a reinstall would get it working, but it couldn't be re-installed:(.

Probably a coincidence.

Tried everything I can think of this weekend, including:
System restore (couldn't reinstall Word, and that was the only restore point),
sfc /scannow (no probs)
chkdsk (no probs)
Tweaked virtual memory
Freed up space on HDD, updated some drivers etc

Anyway, I don't have time to reinstall everything, so I have it on Safe Mode.

It works perfectly, internet, wifi, KF, flash pictures.
No sound, but unlike Windows XP safe mode, colour is normal.
Background is black, but all the icons are there.

Are there any reason not to continue using safe mode for the next couple of weeks?
