I know you were looking for free software but this is too cool not to share. Someone may be interested in plopping down the cash.

TEAC GF-350 Turntable / CD-Recorder

You can play the vinyl record and it will record straight to a CD :cool:

I use audacity as it came with the usb deck that I use to save matching I/O cables between my system and my 'puter.

Can anyone recomend a FREE (free to use, not confuse with free to download ) software package that will do the above, ie convert Vinyl / cassett to CD

I have used and tested LP Recorder but it's a bit pricey.

My thanks for all recomendations.
