Ha ha! Sorry Katzy, the Scholar was right and our posts crossed each other. I have been a bit busy and only now got chance to log back on.
I still have the same little problem and will try your suggestion(if it doesn't look too techy for me!) next and will let you know if it does the trick.
Thanks folks

[Pete Hill, don't be distressed or distracted by this, some of us are just joking around.]

Calm down, calm down.... ;)

Invisability is good thing, and you get used to it eventually anyway...

Katzy, I notice your post and Pete Hill's response to Victor are dated the same minute. I conclude you and Mr. Hill were composing and posting at the same time.

So, your post was not invisible, but it was unseen to that point. ;)

Thanks Victor. Done a Google and, as you say, I am not alone!
Have found a couple of suggestions to fix the problem and will have a go tomorrow and let you know how I get on.
Thanks
Pete

I've known this to work...

Get this:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

and kill the install.

Then, try it, again, if you need to.

Hi Pete

I am not up to telling you the ins and outs of it technically but if you Google
Windows update KB936181 ...
you will find that quite a few people are having the same problem.
Other than that I am sure someone else will be along to give you help.

Hi all.
I am having a problem with a Windows update that doesn't install.
At least I presume it isn't installing because as soon as it has finished installing (and it DOES say "INSTALLATION COMPLETE") then I get the Windows shield popping up telling me I have 1 update to install.
The update is KB936181 if that helps.
I have tried it with custom install but it still keeps coming back so any suggestions would be welcome.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE
