I consider that the truck driver has used great presence of mind to achieve an admirable result. He deserves recognition for his quick thinking.

In the U.S., there would be a great liability to the driver if he damaged a rig owned by the company for which he works, in a rescue. (But, an owner-operator could do it.)

Obviously a lorry driver, rather than someone who happens to drive lorries for a living.
