Whilst I understand your concerns, Daz, and I'm sure that I represent the other mods here, not that we've discussed it, I'd suggest that if any member started down the road of racial vilification, we'd, all of us (mods included) jump on it. Having a good laugh at our differences is one thing, denigrating another is completely against the KF philosophy.

It was a general comment of recent KF postings, in reply to J_L, nothing specifically to do with the OP.

Here to clarify.

You know, perhaps I am racist, maybe wanting a viable economy, a sustainable welfare state and good health care at the cost of illegle immigrant benifit scroungers makes me one

I have grandchildren and I don't want them growing up crowded in a ghetto or living in a shanty town like Soweto.

Perhaps I'm becoming Xerophobic.

Why would anyone think Leigh's joke is rascist? It doesn't focus on any race. It does favor Australian citizens (who include people of various "racial" categories--I still think there is one human race, and the external markers of skin color are minor characteristics).

America and Britain each have elements in their heritage (democracy, capitalism, individual responsibility and freedoms, Christian influences) which I prefer to the cultural backgrounds of some immigrants. I prefer immigrants who want to join American heritage. I don't favor immigrants who want to make America conform to the cultures of their origin.

2.a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.
3.hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

I have to say that I believe the term Racist to be wrongly used in most instances. I have no thoughts that number one applies to my thoughts or actions. Also, number 2 is nothing I would do or consider supporting.

Number three is the one however that can be used to entrap a person and be "labeled" a racist unjustly. For example if I say that "I don't want the US to admit any more Muslims into this country" am I racist? I don't believe so, since I am only referring to those who want to enter the US, not the entire race. If I understand Racist as defined under such terms as in the dictionary one has to to hate or be intolerant of a whole race and not just some members of it.

I hate it when someone throws out that term on someone because they speak their mind against some members of a race. If we as a people having freedom of speech can not express our thoughts about some members of another race without being called racists I think it is time do away with Democracy.

My comments have all been in jest as was Leigh's original post :)

I'm not in the slightest bit "racist" nor am I politically motivated, but simple common sense says that as a country we can't carry on doing things as we have been.
Political and racial correctness is a luxury that this country can no longer afford. As a matter of fairness I think the time has come to to start putting the British citizen first for a change, (its our birth right).
We have just been told that there is to be a 60% cut in Social Housing funding yet we are still providing millions in housing aid to foreign countries, that is unfair and morally wrong; this is only one small issue, there are hundreds more.
Let the pendulum swing the other way before its to late.

Very sincerely the Bear. waveysmiley

No, in this instance, to my shame I am being serious. :(

I refer solely to KF and it's ever growing racist undertones.

Is my perception anyway, YMMV.
