I never did get into C & C, they weren't my scene although they were my era.

If you were wondering if it happened, it's not a story that has been passed from one to another to another.

On the other hand, if the person who said it happened to her lied, I don't know that the radio show would have done the detective work to get another party to verify it.:)

Guess nobody got my reference.

Then again, maybe I'm showing my age and the advantages of a "misspent youth."

It's interesting but not important. I'm not going to use it for my thesis.

I didn't catch her name, if it was given at all. It was part of a weekly program on a local non-commercial radio station. The teacher who learned to play bass well enough for the program was the one who related the event.

If it's important to you (such as, if you plan to use it and want to source it), I could narrow it down to one or two programs by getting the station schedule, and then checking the web site of the program.

True story:

As the time for the Christmas program approached, the Sister asked the girl, "Would you do me a favor?"

"Sure," she said, "What do you want?"

"I'd like you to play the bass for the Christmas program."

:o:o:oThe regular bass player was sick, and the program was next week! "I can't play the bass!"

"You can take it home and practice what you need to know. "

"I'm too short!"

"You'll be fine!"

It was quite something for her to take the bass home, on the subway!

But, she did it!:o She learned to play well enough to get through the program!:o:D

Now, SHE is a teacher, herself. And she feels wonderful whenever she asks the "impossible" of a student, and they accomplish it, and thank her for believing in their ability.
